·  Compared to the 1990 – 2006 average of 67%; the USADA reports that 70% of the US corn crop is currently in good or excellent condition. 

·  Who’s using ethanol co-products?  In 2006, a study found that 34% of feedyards, 38% of dairies, 13% of beef cow operations and 12% of hog operations were using ethanol co-products.

·  Cattle futures have made a significant turn-around in the last 10 days thanks to support from more manageable levels of market ready cattle and support from the beef cutout.

·  December 2007 and April 2008 futures made new lifetime highs on July 12th.

·  JBS Swift Group became the world’s largest beef processor in the world on July 12th when the acquisition of Swift and Co. was completed for approximately $1.5 billion.

·  According the Cattle-Fax, fed cattle prices reach their lows when they trade at 21.5% – 22.5% of retail beef prices.  The week prior to the July 4th holiday, fed prices were 22.4% of retail price.  That being said, Cattle-Fax also feels that there are indications retail prices in May might have been the highest we’ll see in 2007.
